A special event took place this February in the Israeli Diamond Exchange compound in Ramat Gan. Over 300 representatives participated in the sales of leading diamonds, networking meetings and exhibitions of leading Diamond Manufacturers in Israel and in the world. This event was the 6th of its kind, lasted for 3 days (February 13-16) and was marked as the most crowded one, with high rates of signing up which occurred prior to the event. Guests arrived from over 20 countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany, India, Russia, Belgium and much more.

Among the most exciting activities during the Diamonds Week in Israel was the Chinese diamond manufacturing company Chow Tai Fook which dominates the Asian market presented their production during the event. The Armenian delegation visited Israel for the first time.

New trading platform was presented during the event, a special development by the Israeli Diamonds Industry – the “Get Diamonds” platform, where figures in the international industry can present production and make orders. Yoram Dvash, the president in Israeli Diamond Exchange explained that the goal is to make the event as lucrative as possible and offer a growth in the sales. The “Get Diamonds” platform became available to the participants a week before the opening of the event, allowing them to upload their production and present themselves on the most accurate and impressive way.
New auctions center to open up
On the second day of the event, a special tender center opened in the Israeli Diamond exchange in Ramat Gan, allowing selling for wholesale prices for many key-players in the industry and others. Auctions include both for rough material and loose diamonds. Yoram Dvash explained: “Israel became a key player in the international diamonds manufacturing industry, and the new center was conceived in order to bring even more activity and auctions into the country in terms of wholesale. The advantages of the local market will allow the center to be active all year round.
The most notable guests in the auction center during the Diamonds Week were Alrosa, I. Henig and Koin, presenting and acquiring both raw material and loose diamonds. For I. Henig it’s a second visit in the auction center after a successful process in September, while Koin was making its first participation.

The president of Alrosa Diamond Manufacturing Company (Russian company – one of the incomparable leaders of the industry) was the guest of honor on the event. After signing up the initial cooperation agreement in 2015, the Israeli Diamond Exchange and Alrosa began cooperating on many levels. This year, the president Andrey Zharkov flew in to discuss the expansion of this cooperation, which also asses the valuable input the Israeli Diamond manufacturing industry has all over the world.
Overall, the ever growing participation rate during the annual Diamonds Week in Israel, the new cooperation agreements and representation of key players of the industry from all around the world are proving once again that Israel is one of Diamond leaders in the world.
