Is it really that important whether the diamond is real or not?
Today we have reached a point where one can create a diamond in a lab which is almost indistinguishable from a natural one.Due to evolution of technology, it is almost impossible today to distinguish between an artificial diamond and a natural one. Lab grown diamonds and natural diamonds possess even the same physical and chemical properties mined from the earth.

Lab grown diamonds count for only fifteen percent of the ever growing global diamond market which is worth close to $ 80 billion US dollars, yet the demand for cheaper diamonds led the diamond industry to develop diamonds that are manufactured in a lab.
Today’s technology is so advanced that the prices of lab grown diamonds are on the decline.
Lab grown diamonds are also referred to as synthetic diamonds or man-made diamonds
If you are one of those people that is still unsure on whether to buy a lab grown diamond or a natural one and you want to know what are the differences between them?

Here are some things that might interest you:

Lab Grown Diamonds are cheaper
The prices of diamonds vary according to parameters such as shape, cut, weight (Carat), Clarity and color, yet lab grown diamonds cost an average of 20 to 30 percent less compared to natural diamonds. Even though real diamonds are considered more expansive, they are more lucrative and can be more appealing for people who want to invest in diamonds in the long run-
Unlike synthetic diamonds which are declining in price.
Why then go for the real thing?
One of the main disadvantages of a lab grown diamond, is that they are limited in size. Some manufacturers are known to grow diamonds that are transparent, colorless, and weigh half to one and a half carats, yet most diamonds that are created in a lab come in larger sizes.

Another disadvantage is more a philosophical one:

Lab grown diamond are created in a few days, while natural diamond are formed over millions of years, this notion is considered less romantic to some people.
The reason women love real diamonds so much is because they symbolize eternity having been formed over millions of years.
Some studies have shown today’s youth as being ambiguous on the issue of synthetic vs. natural diamonds.
The most recent study that was conducted in 2015 by the company “Gemdax”, has shown that 55% of consumers aged 18 to 35 in North America prefer natural diamonds to lab grown ones.
On the other hand, Singapore Technologies IIA Company CEO ‘Nayak Mehta’ says:
”We are creating a new industry,” Today’s consumers are aware of the blood diamond epidemic in Africa and they prefer diamonds that are more environmentally friendly.
